What is an oral examination?
An oral examination with Dr. Civelek is a comprehensive assessment of your oral health and wellness. After the exam, he determines if you have tooth decay, gum disease, jawbone loss, or other oral health problems that often benefit from periodontics care.

What happens during oral examinations?
During oral health exams at Holistic Periodontics, Dr. Civelek completes the following:
Oral health history review
Dr. Civelek discusses your oral health history with you by asking a series of detailed questions. He discusses your symptoms, past and current medical diagnoses, medications you’re taking, and your history of tooth decay, gum disease, or other oral health problems.
Oral health exam
During an oral health examination, Dr. Civelek examines your teeth, gums, and mouth. He looks for signs of gum disease, tooth decay, and jawbone loss.
Imaging procedures
Dr. Civelek also offers cutting-edge CT scans, including 3D scans of your mandible (lower jawbone). This scan helps him determine if you’ve suffered bone loss or other problems beneath your gums.
Will I need treatment?
If you have gum disease, severe tooth decay, bone loss, loose permanent teeth, or permanent tooth loss, Dr. Civelek often recommends that you undergo treatment to correct the problem.
